Handmade glass vase from Mdina, Malta. I was at the factory where I saw them making these kinds of beautiful and very delicate glassware. Their glass pieces are all unique in some way and I like this one because of its shimmering effect. It also emits a distinct aura from the light reflecting off it.

Wine bar, 14 Jan 2007

The Kaisersaal wine bar just downstairs from my apartment in Berlin. The eerie scattered lights are reflections from the lit trees (which you can't see) on the outside of the window. It's a cool bar but quite expensive. The place above the wine bar is the Kaisersaal, a room which costed millions to relocate to here from the remains of the Grand Hotel Esplanade. It was the principal dining/salon room of Kaiser Wilhelm II in the early 1900s. Read some technical facts here.

This is one of the grocery stores in the area; they claim to save you money (though a lot of other places are cheaper). Perhaps the way they pass along the savings is by not maintaining their building sign... ;)

Ice cream parlour, 12 Jan 2007

Aussie ice cream parlour in Berlin and not far from where I work! They serve a great cinnamon ice cream, made on-site, with no artificial stuff or preservatives, etc, etc. The sticks in the middle are large bundles of cinnamon.

Anyone else find it interesting that a gas station calls its attendants "sellers"? And, do they card ya if you're just buying gas? ;)

You could say that I "caught some tail" with this one, but it's just your plain old run-of-the mill tail light, though the fact that not the entire lens lights up is interesting.
